An exceptionally well-preserved bottle of the most prestigious of Rémy Martin Cognacs, this Louis XIII from the 1950s and 60s was once a gift, and is now open to a budding collector. In fact, it was gifted to the late father in law of the seller when he retired from the Vancouver Police Department. You’re right - that’s one hell of a gift!
The Louis XIII is revered around the world; from Canada to France. Typically crafted with over 1,200 different eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne, it will contain eaux-de-vie typically between 40 and 100 years old. Which means you could well be sipping on some rare 19th and 20th-century Cognacs in this Hors d’Age blend.
Judging by its age, this decanter would have been crafted by Mr André Renaud, the man who set the Louis XIII on a path to becoming the legendary Cognac that it is today. He defined the position of a cellar master at Rémy Martin.
Remy Martin has always chosen to age the Louis 13 in Limousin oak casks, and this tradition has been long-standing.
If you want to follow in some illustrious footsteps of Louis XIII fans, Winston Churchill celebrated his election win with it in 1951, and Queen Elizabeth II was served it in her visit to Versailles Palace (near Paris, France) on her visit in 1957.

This very decanter is crafted with Baccarat Crystal, and this collector’s item is exceptionally well preserved. The seal is intact, and the bottle comes in a stunning red presentation box.
The design of the flask is based upon that which was found on the site of the battle of Jarnac, which took place in 1569. A combination of its age-old Baccarat glass decanter dating back to the 16th century, alongside its earthly blending process which began in 1874, makes for a complex Cognac with a pervading reputation. It is sure to endure well into the future.
